The Tenable Discussions Forum is now the Tenable Community. The Tenable Community takes the foundation established by the Tenable Discussions Forum and expands it to be a broader, more comprehensive resource that will provide greater value to you as a member of the Tenable Community.
To understand the difference—or the reason for the change—let’s take a look at the definitions of the words “discussion” and “community”.
- dis·cus·sion: The act of talking about something with another person or a group of people; a conversation about something.
- com·mu·ni·ty: A unified body of individuals; a body of persons of common and especially professional interests scattered throughout a larger society.
The goal, then, is to grow beyond just talking about something with one another, and instead interact with one another on a larger scale based on our common interests. Those interests revolve around Tenable and Tenable products obviously, but the Tenable Community is bigger than that. The Tenable Community is about information security in general. It is a place to share and learn and expand your horizons, and a place to work together to solve problems.
As part of the Tenable Community, you can find discussion boards, report problems, request product enhancements, learn best practices from your peers for any of our products, including Nessus, SecurityCenter and SecurityCenter Continuous View -- and much more.
The Tenable Discussions Forum has been primarily focused on troubleshooting and support. The existing questions and threads from the Tenable Discussions Forum are still here, and still fill a vital role within the Tenable Community. If you’re already a member of the Tenable Discussions Forum you will still be able to post questions, or help answer questions just as you have always done.
What you will find as well, though, is that the Tenable Community will be a source of helpful tips, best practices, customer success stories, and how-to’s for both Tenable products and information security in general. We will regularly post new content that we hope will provide value to you as a member of the Tenable Community, and we invite you to contribute as well. Share your own knowledge and experience with the Tenable Community.
The more we all share and contribute, the more valuable the Tenable Community will be for all of us. The Tenable Community will provide a variety of unique benefits, including:
- Participate in discussion boards
- Learn best practice tips and advice for using Tenable products, including Nessus, SecurityCenter and SecurityCenter Continuous View
- Stay up-to-date about the latest Tenable news, products and updates
- Find answers to your questions and share your knowledge with other community members
- Report problems and request product enhancements
- And much more
We will have a system in place to recognize Tenable support personnel, Tenable Partners, and those who provide the most value in the Tenable Community—sharing relevant information and helping others find answers. This serves a dual purpose of rewarding the valuable contributions, and making it easier for those new to the Tenable Community to identify credible responses based on the reputation of the member.
There will be unique opportunities for those in the Tenable Community. From time to time we will award prizes or conduct giveaways, invite members to participate in unique events or activities, and more.
Pardon our dust as we work through this transition. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to share your feedback about the new Tenable Community. Let us know if any part of the site seems confusing or isn’t working properly, and please share with us any ideas you have to improve the Tenable Community.
I am excited about the Tenable Community, and about working with all of you to make sure it is an excellent experience and a valuable resource. Thank you for being a part of the Tenable Community.
